Art Director

Basic Research has an exciting opportunity for an Art Director who is looking to join a fast-paced growing company. This opportunity gives you the chance to oversee and manage creative projects with external agencies and contractors and over time, build a larger team while playing a highly visible role with an industry leader. The Art Director will report into the Creative Director and partner with cross functional teams and project leaders across the organization. You will be instrumental in ensuring our print/packaging and digital efforts are executed with precision and efficiency following brand guidelines provided by the CD.

 RESPONSIBILITIES & ROLE
  • Concept and execute creative for 360 campaigns including print, digital, social, experiential ecommerce and mobile
  • Push and inspire external agencies/contractors and eventual internal team to produce work that is unique and ownable to Basic Research
  • Develop high-level art direction decks
  • Take initiative in working closely with cross-functional teams and ideating together
  • Work on multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deliverables are achieved on time while maintaining the highest quality
  • Be knowledgeable on the latest digital/mobile/creative trends and best practices, always seeking the next opportunity to experiment
 EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6 years' experience leading creative functions across design, advertising, mobile, social, retail and packaging (experience in beauty, health & fitness a plus)
  • Experience managing and mentoring creative teams
  • Experience working on multiple brands and strong understanding of branding
  • Fluent understanding of digital trends and mobile and social landscape
  • Strong sense of visual style; strong layout, typography and graphics standards
  • Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Self-motivated and natural problem solver
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to produce effective ideas under tight timelines
  • Ability to take idea from concept to execution
  • Ability to think critically
  • Adept at managing multiple, concurrent and complex projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interface with all levels of management
  • Ability to identify the need for change and lead the team through it
 
REQUIREMENTS SKILLS
  • Excellent technical skills in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Should have experience in Cinema CD-4 or other CG rendering skills for packaging skus
  • Must be willing and able to contribute to the creative sprint and own projects
  • Passion for the beauty, health & fitness, wellness categories
  • Ability to develop brand logo's and type hierarchies and apply to product lines and their extensions
  • Strong skills in making presentation decks
  • Good eye for aspirational imagery as you will be leading the team's efforts in developing mood boards and competitive set analysis'
  • Overseeing and managing print mechanicals and printing processes
  • Overseeing and managing retail plan-o-grams and inline renderings/experiences
  • Maintain deadlines and project goals
  • Repeatedly demonstrate leadership qualities
